A Princeton College doctoral scholar who was kidnapped by a militia group in Iraq in 2023 and was held for greater than 900 days has been launched, President Trump introduced Tuesday. 

Elizabeth Tsurkov, an Israeli and Russian citizen whose sister is an American citizen, is now protected on the U.S. Embassy in Iraq after she had been held captive by the Iran-backed, U.S.-designated terrorist group Kata’ib Hezbollah, Mr. Trump mentioned in a Fact Social submit. 

“I’ll all the time combat for JUSTICE, and by no means hand over. HAMAS, RELEASE THE HOSTAGES, NOW!” the president wrote, referring to the terrorist group Hamas that is holding 48 hostages, 20 of whom are believed to be alive, who have been taken throughout Hamas’ Oct. 7, 2023, assault on Israel. 

“My whole household is extremely pleased. We can’t wait to see Elizabeth and provides her all of the love now we have been ready to share for 903 days,” Tsurkov’s sister Emma mentioned Tuesday in a press release, The Related Press reported.

In a press release to CBS Information on Tuesday, Princeton President Christopher L. Eisgruber mentioned, “The discharge of Princeton graduate scholar Elizabeth Tsurkov brings reduction and pleasure to the College neighborhood, and we have a good time that she might be reunited together with her household.”
