To the editor: Florida’s state Well being Division intends to eradicate all vaccine mandates for youths, saying the transfer will increase parental rights in medical choices for his or her youngsters (“Florida strikes to eradicate all childhood vaccine mandates,” Sept. 3). Lt. Gov. Jay Collins mentioned, “We’re … getting authorities out of your lives.”

And but, in 2023, the state handed a legislation banning gender-affirming take care of minors. A lot for getting the federal government out of our private lives.

Kathy Harty, Sierra Madre

..

To the editor: My mother and father didn’t consider in vaccines and I used to be at all times excused from vaccinations in school. Seeing images of little youngsters in iron lungs and strolling with leg braces made me notice I actually wouldn’t need to get polio, so I obtained my very own vaccine (a sugar dice in a paper cup) after I was 16.

Listening to Florida Surgeon Basic Dr. Joseph Ladapo’s ridiculous diatribe — “immoral,” “slavery,” “they don’t have the best to let you know what to place into your physique” — made me assume that perhaps, he ought to have a slogan: “Fingers off my physique.” Oh wait, that’s already utilized by abortion rights activists. In contrast to vaccines, an abortion impacts solely the one who is getting it, not her classmates, neighborhood or basic inhabitants.

Kathy Hicker, Los Angeles

..

To the editor: Why doesn’t Florida additionally outlaw its vaccine necessities for pets?

The unhappy half is, I can think about extra outrage if these vaccine necessities had been lifted than what the Florida surgeon basic is doing now to people.

Tom Friel, Camarillo

..

To the editor: Ladapo’s declare that vaccine mandates are akin to “slavery” is why museums and faculties should proceed to show what slavery was.

In fact, the measles vaccine is harmful — should you’re a pressure of measles.

Gary Davis, Los Angeles

..

To the editor: When a toddler dies in Florida from a preventable sickness as a result of they didn’t get vaccinated, I’m certain Gov. Ron DeSantis, Ladapo and Well being and Human Providers Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. will take rapid motion by “providing our heartfelt prayers for the household.”
