P-cards

The Boston Herald has executed a fantastic job investigating and bringing to the general public’s consideration the corruption that exists with our public officers. Howie Carr additionally does a fantastic job exposing fraud and crime.

I wish to suggest an answer to the P card that our elected officers use and abuse. Why not carry it consistent with what most non-public sector companies do?

ELIMINATE THE PROCUREMENT CARD completely and substitute the next professional expense reimbursement processes.

All authorities staff that incur professional work associated bills hold their receipts and submit them bi-weekly or month-to-month to their boss who will evaluation the receipt  for APPROVAL or DISAPPROVAL, preliminary every receipt if professional and submit it to accounting for fee inside 7 days. The non-public sector calls it accountability.

For individuals who are the boss, they’ll submit their receipts to the Division Accountant who will evaluation every receipt for APPROVAL or DISAPPROVAL, preliminary every receipt  and submit it for fee. The non-public sector once more calls this accountability.

These authorities staff who approve every submitted receipt by initializing accepted receipts put themselves on the firing line for abuses if uncovered.  In any case, let’s not let abusive taxpayer fraud proceed.

Equal COLA Act

I’m a retired federal worker writing to lift public consciousness in regards to the Equal COLA Act, H.R. 491/ S. 624, which would supply extra equitable annual cost-of-living-adjustments (COLAs) for Social Safety beneficiaries, federal annuitants and veterans underneath the Federal Staff Retirement System (FERS). The laws would carry much-needed monetary reduction to tens of millions of seniors throughout the nation.

Beneath the Equal COLA Act, FERS retirees would obtain full COLAs consistent with the Civil Service Retirement System (CSRS) and Social Safety beneficiary’s annual COLA changes, as a substitute of the present system which caps their changes. This unfairly leaves FERS retirees’ annuities susceptible to the impacts of inflation, and, in occasions of excessive inflation for retirees on fastened month-to-month incomes, can erode their monetary stability.

Passage of the Equal COLA Act would assure honest remedy for federal retirees who’ve devoted their careers to public service, and would be certain that they, and their annuities, are valued accordingly. I urge our members of Congress and my fellow People to face up for the federal neighborhood and assist the Equal COLA Act.

Socialist pols

A crash is coming to the Large Apple and we can’t avert our eyes. And we can’t blame alone youthful voters unschooled in twentieth century historical past, for a lot of of their dad and mom are as blind to current collectivist calamities as their younger. And so are Democratic politicians like Sen. Elizabeth Warren, flocking to the socialist whippersnapper for a photo-op since he’s the one factor going since Donald Trump laid waste to the dream of a Biden follow-on with Harris-Walz. If Eric Adams and Andrew Cuomo don’t tone their egos and current a unified entrance for opposition voters, Zohran Mamdani will depart solely the core of the apple.
