Air Canada stated it will resume flights Sunday after a authorities directive to finish a flight attendants’ strike.

The Canadian Industrial Relations Board (CIRB) “has directed Air Canada to renew airline operations and for all Air Canada and Air Canada Rouge flight attendants to renew their duties” by 2 p.m. ET, the airline stated in an announcement.

The directive got here after Jobs Minister Patty Hajdu moved to impose binding arbitration Saturday, extending the present contract till a brand new settlement is reached.

Greater than 10,000 flight attendants walked off the job over pay and scheduling disputes after months of negotiations over a brand new contract.

The strike upended journey plans worldwide on the top of the summer season season, with round 700 day by day flights suspended and a few 100,000 vacationers compelled to scramble for options or keep put.

“Restart of operations will start instantly, with first flights this night, however Air Canada expects it is going to take a number of days earlier than its operations return to regular,” the airline stated in its assertion early Sunday. “Throughout this course of, some flights will probably be canceled over the subsequent 7 to 10 days till the schedule is stabilized. Air Canada deeply regrets the inconvenience for its clients.”
