President Donald Trump stated Monday that he’ll nominate the economist E. J. Antoni as commissioner of the Bureau of Labor Statistics.
Antoni would substitute Erika McEntarfer, who Trump fired as BLS commissioner on Aug. 1, after accusing her of manipulating jobs report knowledge.
McEntarfer was terminated hours after her company reported reported slower than anticipated nonfarm job payroll progress in July, and after sharply revising downward beforehand reported June and Could job positive factors.
Antoni is the chief economist on the conservative Heritage Basis and has been a longtime critic of the BLS.
