Final weekend, Minnesota state Rep. Melissa Hortman, a Democrat, and her husband, Mark, had been shot and killed at their house by a person impersonating a police officer.

The assault comes amid an increase in political violence. Final 12 months alone, Capitol Police investigated greater than 9,000 threats in opposition to members of the U.S. Congress.

Former U.S. Congresswoman Gabby Giffords is aware of the horrors of gun violence solely too properly. The Arizona Democrat was shot at a constituent occasion in Tucson in 2011.

Now a number one gun security advocate, Giffords speaks with host Mary Louise Kelly about how she is dealing with this second and her ideas on addressing the issue of gun violence.
