About 3,200 union members at Boeing amenities in Michigan and Illinois went on strike at midnight on Monday after rejecting an contract provide from the corporate, the union stated.

Native members of the Worldwide Affiliation of Machinists and Aerospace Staff, who construct and keep fighter jets, together with the F-15 and F/A-18 fashions, voted on Sunday to reject Boeing’s newest contract provide.

The union members work at Boeing amenities in St. Loius and St. Charles, Missouri, together with Mascoutah, Illinois, based on the union.

They’d voted on July 27 to reject an earlier 4-year contract proposal put ahead by the corporate, the union stated.

Boeing added, “We’re ready for a strike and have absolutely applied our contingency plan to make sure our non-striking workforce can proceed supporting our clients.”
