The San Francisco 49ers signed broad receiver Quintez Cephus to a one-year deal on Thursday and waived working again Israel Abanikanda.

Cephus, 27, was a fifth-round decide by Detroit within the 2020 NFL Draft and final appeared in a sport with the Lions in 2022. The league suspended him for the 2023 season for betting on NFL video games.

Cephus caught 37 passes for 568 yards and 4 touchdowns in 22 video games (six begins) for Detroit from 2020-22. After being reinstated by the league in April 2024, he hung out with the Buffalo Payments, Houston Texans and Los Angeles Rams.

The 49ers wanted one other wideout after Jacob Cowing sustained a hamstring harm in Wednesday’s apply.

Abanikanda, 22, was a fifth-round decide by the New York Jets in 2023. He rushed 22 occasions for 70 yards and caught seven passes for 43 yards in six video games with the Jets in 2023. The 49ers claimed him off waivers in December 2024.
