Professional-Trump authorized advocacy nonprofit America First Authorized (AFL) is looking on the federal Election Help Fee (EAC) to start requiring proof of citizenship for all federal voter registration candidates after the president’s effort to take action by govt order was blocked by the courts. 

AFL filed a petition on Wednesday with the EAC, calling on the company to amend the nationwide voter registration type to require candidates to offer any one of many following paperwork proving U.S. citizenship: a U.S. passport, beginning certificates, consular report of beginning overseas, certificates of naturalization, certificates of citizenship, state-issued REAL-ID compliant license, or different dependable government-issued identification. 

The transfer follows a March govt order issued by President Donald Trump, titled “Preserving and Defending the Integrity of American Elections,” which sought to compel the EAC to start requiring a proof of citizenship requirement on the nationwide voter registration type, along with different provisions pertaining to the prohibition of non-citizen voting.

Trump’s transfer has been slammed by critics who’ve argued that it’s already unlawful for non-U.S. residents to vote in federal elections. Nonetheless, a hopeful voter doesn’t want to offer any proof of citizenship and may simply self-attest.

The portion of Trump’s March govt order calling on the EAC to amend the nationwide voter registration type and require all states to conform and use it was in the end blocked by a number of federal judges following lawsuits that challenged Trump’s authority.

SECOND FEDERAL JUDGE SIDES AGAINST TRUMP’S ELECTION EXECUTIVE ORDER
