SwitchBot announces the Lock Vision and Lock Vision Pro, new smart locks designed for seamless Apple Home integration. These models support Matter over Wi-Fi directly, requiring only an Apple TV or HomePod for connectivity without additional hubs.

Advanced Biometrics and Facial Recognition

The standout feature across the Lock Vision series is 3D facial recognition. The system projects more than 20,000 infrared points to generate a detailed 3D depth map of the face, effectively blocking attempts to fool it with photos or videos. Unlocking occurs in under one second, even with glasses, hats, wigs, or heavy makeup. All biometric data remains stored locally and encrypted with AES-128 for enhanced privacy.

The Lock Vision Pro builds on this with semiconductor fingerprint recognition and contactless palm scanning. The palm vein scanner employs near-infrared technology to detect unique vascular patterns inside the hand, eliminating the need for physical contact.

Dual Battery System and Power Efficiency

A dual-battery setup ensures reliable operation. The primary 10,000mAh rechargeable battery supports up to 12 months of typical use. A backup CR123A battery provides up to 500 emergency unlocks if the main battery depletes. For remote power needs, an exterior USB-C port allows temporary charging via a power bank.

mmWave radar technology further optimizes battery life by activating biometric scanners only when someone approaches the door.

Matter over Wi-Fi and Additional Unlock Options

Matter over Wi-Fi compatibility simplifies setup for Apple Home users, bypassing the need for extra bridges. Other unlocking methods include NFC cards, passcodes, geofencing-based auto-unlock, and traditional physical keys.

Lock Vision vs. Lock Vision Pro

Both models share core capabilities like the robust battery, Matter support, and 3D facial recognition. The Pro version adds fingerprint and palm scanning to justify its premium price.

  • SwitchBot Lock Vision ($169.99): 3D facial recognition, passcodes, NFC cards, Apple Home integration.
  • SwitchBot Lock Vision Pro ($229.99): All standard features plus fingerprint and contactless palm scanning.

Both locks launch today on Amazon, featuring introductory discounts. While Apple Home Key support is absent, these devices deliver comprehensive smart lock functionality.
