The Carolina Panthers decided on a more ferocious theme for their 2026 schedule release video. They teamed up with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department bomb squad to blow up various items depicting the teams in their schedule.
To announce their Week 16 showdown against the Pittsburgh Steelers, the Panthers blew up “Terrible Towels,” which has been associated with the team since its origin in 1975. The terrible towel holds a special place in the hearts of the Steelers’ fanbase, becoming not only a symbol of the franchise but also the city of Pittsburgh.
Thanks for the submission!

The last time the Panthers played the Steelers in a regular-season game was during the 2022 season. They suffered a 16-24 loss at the Bank of America Stadium under former coach Matt Rhule.
In 2024, Carolina hired Dave Canales as the new coach on a six-year deal. During his debut campaign, they finished third in the NFC South with a 5-12 record. Last season, Canales and his team qualified for the playoffs, but lost to the Los Angeles Rams in a wild-card showdown.

Who will the Panthers face in Week 1 of the 2026 season?
Carolina kicks things off with a Week 1 showdown against the Chicago Bears. They last faced each other during the 2024 season, which ended with a 10-36 loss for Canales’ team at Soldier Field.
The Bears had an impressive 2025 campaign under debut coach Ben Johnson, qualifying for the playoffs as the NFC North champions. However, the Rams eliminated them in the divisional round with a 20-17 overtime victory.
The Panthers also have three prime-time games this upcoming season. Can they make another playoff run and potentially emerge as a strong Super Bowl contender?
