Portugal and Al-Nassr superstar Cristiano Ronaldo has sent a special social media message to his fans on the occasion of Eid ul-Fitr.
Ronaldo, who turned 41 last month, is widely followed by football fans owing to his excellent stints at clubs like Real Madrid and Manchester United. He has also built a strong rapport with Islamic people since joining Saudi Pro League team Al-Nassr on a free transfer in January 2023.
Thanks for the submission!
On March 20, the five-time Ballon d’Or winner wrote on X:
“Eid Mubarak to all! I hope you have a very special day with your family and loved ones. Wishing you all peace and happiness.”
The Al-Nassr captain, who has over 106 million followers on X, has proved to be a transformational signing for the Saudi Pro League. His Bosman move to Al-Nassr, owned by the Public Investment Fund (PIF), has inspired a number of elite players to secure permanent moves to Saudi Arabian clubs over the last three campaigns.
Ronaldo, who is currently nursing a hamstring injury, is relishing a brilliant 2025-26 season at his club. He has found the back of the net 22 times and contributed four assists in 26 club appearances across all competitions so far this season.
Roberto Martinez sheds lights on if Cristiano Ronaldo will be fit for 2026 FIFA World Cup
During an interaction with Observador, Portugal head coach Roberto Martinez was queried if Cristiano Ronaldo will be fit for the 2026 FIFA World Cup. He responded (h/t World Soccer Talk):
“No one can provide that guarantee. If I had that guarantee, I would have called the player up now. Cristiano currently has a minor injury, but he still has more matches with his club. Football is a contact sport, and I can’t guarantee that players won’t get injured.”
However, Martinez assured that he will make the correct decision while picking his best squad for the World Cup, saying:
“It’s my responsibility to create the best possible environment for our team, so that all players in the dressing room enjoy representing Portugal and contributing at the World Cup. I have a lot of experience in this area. We have an excellent relationship with our medical department which has extensive experience that allows it to gather all the necessary information to make the right decision.”
With Portugal set to face Mexico and the United States later this month, Ronaldo is likely to continue his recovery from his hamstring injury in Madrid. He could feature in Al-Nassr’s home league clash against Al-Najma on April 3, as per reports.
