A teenage Australian surfer feared misplaced at sea was rescued Thursday after spending the night time on an uninhabited island miles offshore, officers and native media mentioned.

The person, named in native media as 19-year-old Darcy Deefholts, reportedly went for a surf off a seaside in Wooli, a coastal city 300 miles north of Sydney.

He’d left residence on Wednesday afternoon.

“When he did not return residence, involved members of the family contacted officers,” New South Wales police mentioned in assertion.

Police launched a land and water search round Wooli Seashore and the surfer was “positioned safely” on the small island the next day, they mentioned.

The person spent the night time on North Solitary Island, about seven miles off the coast, in keeping with Sydney’s Day by day Telegraph.

Tiny North Solitary Island is seen simply off Australia’s central east coast.

The rescue was a “one in one million miracle,” {the teenager}’s father, Terry, informed the newspaper after earlier saying on social media he’d feared the worst.

His son was receiving medical remedy.
