Ross Chastain got into a heated confrontation with former teammate Daniel Suarez after Sunday’s Penzoil 400 at Las Vegas Motor Speedway. The altercation turned into a shoving match when Chastain pushed Suarez out of his way.
Chastain and Suarez ended up 17th and 18th on the final order. Disgruntled over an on-track incident, Chastain side-swiped Suarez during the cool-down lap, and Suarez retaliated by dooring him.

The Spire Motorsports driver confronted Chastain over the tussle, but the Florida native was having none of it. Chastain’s onboard camera captured the moment when he shoved Suarez. The Mexican native looked unfazed and began to taunt Chastain.
NASCAR reporter Steven Taranto shared the moment on X.
Daniel Suarez later addressed the incident and said (via NASCAR’s official website),
“We got together a little bit in Corner 2, and he was mad about it.”
Ross Chastain and Suarez used to be teammates at Trackhouse Racing since 2022. Suarez left the team after last year and is currently driving the No.7 Chevy for Spire.
Daniel Suarez calls out Ross Chastain as ‘double faced’
Daniel Suarez spoke to reporters post-race and went all out on Ross Chastain. The 34-year-old shed light on their relationship over the years and made a shocking accusation.
“I was having a conversation, and he was all spun out. He’s just upset or something. I mean, for some reason, our relationship has been always very weird — almost like a little bit of two-faced on his part for some reason. And today I saw actually what I thought he had in his mind for a while. But, I mean, I don’t have any hard feelings to anyone. I’m just doing my thing, having a great time. But it just sounds like he thinks that way,” Suarez said via aforementioned source.
“I have had to go through a lot to be able to get to this point. And that’s just who I am, and that’s the journey I have had to take to be able to come from a different country. So it’s just part of it,” he added via aforementioned source.
Daniel Suarez and Ross Chastain have a history of heated moments. They previously went through a similar experience at Circuit of the Americas in 2023, when Suarez bumped Chastain post-race.
It led to a heated conversation but the then teammates kept their cool. Last year at Sonoma Raceway, Suarez got spun out by Chastain on the final corner and prompted an angry response on the team radio. Notably, the incident happened just weeks after Suarez’s Trackhouse Racing exit announcement.
This year, Saurez is currently three spots ahead of Ross Chastain on the points standings. They both have earned a top-5 result so far.
