Real Madrid fans online were left in awe of Antonio Rudiger’s performance in their 3-0 win over Manchester City in the UEFA Champions League Round of 16. Rudiger remained in great form throughout the game at the Santiago Bernabeu on March 11.
Real Madrid put up an excellent performance in the first leg, with Fede Valverde scoring a hat-trick in the first half itself (20′, 27′ and 42′). Los Blancos also won a penalty in the second half, but Vinicius Jr missed the chance to make it 4-0 from the spot (57′) as Gianluigi Donnarumma saved the effort. Manchester City remained poor in defence, while Erling Haaland and Jeremy Doku were wasteful in the attack.

Real Madrid star Fede Valverde opens up after scoring a hat-trick against Manchester City in the UCL

In the post-match press conference, Real Madrid star Fede Valverde opened up about his tremendous performance against Manchester City in the UCL Round of 16 first leg. The Uruguayan, who was named the Man of the Match, said (via Madrid Xtra):
“Wow… it’s incredible. A dream. Thanks to everyone. It’s an honour for me. We played united, as a team. We can achieve big things like this.”
This marks the sixth time in the last five seasons that Manchester City has clashed against Real Madrid in the UEFA Champions League. Earlier this season, the Cityzens beat Los Blancos 2-1 in the group stage. However, the Spaniards are now back in the game.
The Round of 16 second leg will take place at the Etihad Stadium on March 17. Pep Guardiola’s side can only hope for a comeback with an exceptionally strong performance. However, given their form in today’s game, a lot of work will be required to change the outcome.
