The Henley Passport Index compiles exclusive data from the International Air Transport Association (IATA) to rank 199 passports across 227 destinations. Updated monthly, it provides a key benchmark for global travel mobility.

Ranking Boost and Trends

Recent gains have elevated Canada’s visa-free access from 181 countries in January to 182, driven by new agreements including with China. The country ranked ninth in 2016 before stabilizing around seventh and eighth in subsequent years.

Singapore dominates the 2026 index with access to 192 countries. Japan, South Korea, and the United Arab Emirates share second place, followed by Sweden in third.

The U.S. passport slips to tenth, offering entry to 179 destinations—a drop from fourth in 2016.
