Mike Evans is set to become an unrestricted free agent on March 11. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers wide receiver has been linked to multiple contenders as he gears up for his 13th NFL season.

Sports TV personality Kevin Wildes made a bold claim about Evans’ future on Tuesday’s episode of “First Things First.”

“Mike Evans’ agent said, ‘We’re looking at all 32 teams, you’re looking at what the Saints are up to,” Wildes said. “Mike Evans’ agent, you’re looking to see what the Raiders are gonna look like with (Fernando) Mendoza. And then later on, it was reported like, ‘We’re looking for a championship, a great coach, a great quarterback, a team to win.’

“OK, so you went from all 32 so now we got the list whittled down. There is zero chance that Mike Evans, who loves the Bucs, who won a championship with the Bucs, who is going to have a statue outside the stadium, if the Bucs do a statue. That he leaves the Bucs, it’s all this kind of posturing (for money).”

Evans was selected at No. 7 by the Buccaneers in 2014. The six-time Pro Bowler is looking for a change of scenery as he chases his second Super Bowl victory.

He breached the 1000-receiving-yard mark in his first 11 seasons. However, the streak ended in 2025 as Evans missed nine games due to injuries.

Top landing spots for Mike Evans

The most natural fit for Mike Evans is a return to Tampa Bay, where he has spent his entire career. A short‑term deal would keep him in a familiar offense and help him chase more franchise records.

However, the Buffalo Bills have been floated as the top destination, with Josh Allen needing a true X‑receiver after Stefon Diggs’ departure. Evans would give the Bills quarterback a physical boundary target in the red zone, as well as a veteran presence.

Meanwhile, the Chiefs could pair Evans with Patrick Mahomes in a final‑run‑type scenario, while his hometown Texans offer emotional pull and an efficient offense around C.J. Stroud. The Baltimore Ravens and the New England Patriots are also in the running for the veteran wide receiver.
