Jennifer Garner and ex-husband Ben Affleck stepped out together to celebrate their son Samuel’s 14th birthday.
In photos obtained by Page Six, the pair were seen walking together at Combat Paintball Park in Castaic, California, on Saturday, February 28, carrying gear in their hands.
Garner, 53, donned jeans and a white tank top and paired the look with sunglasses and a black baseball cap, while Affleck, also 53, wore black jeans and a white T-shirt with a gray jacket and a pair of sunglasses.
Garner and Affleck welcomed son Samuel in 2012. The duo are also parents to children Violet, 20, and Seraphina, 17. (Garner and Affleck tied the knot in 2005 before separating in 2015 and finalizing their divorce three years later.)
Ahead of the outing, Garner got candid about her coparenting relationship with Affleck during an episode of Bustle’s “One Nightstand” YouTube series. During the February podcast, Garner weighed in on how she has found a way to balance raising her kids with appreciation and a conscientious upbringing.
“I think that I do a bit of both,” Garner explained. “And I think my kids’ dad does too. Especially when your kids grow up in two separate households, I become mom and dad and he becomes dad and mom. You kind of can’t help it, right? Because you don’t have the benefit of both sides of the yin and yang being in the same house.”
Garner went on to note that she had to “have a bit of both” upbringing qualities and appreciation “in the way” she and Affleck parent.
“There’s a little bit of loss in that, but there’s also something gained in that,” she said. “You also just learn. It’s made me let go and not focus so much on bringing up.”

Affleck, for his part, has also been open about his dynamic with Garner after their split. “I’m really lucky that I have a really good coparent and partner in Jennifer Garner, the kids’ mom, who’s wonderful and great,” Affleck told GQ in a 2025 profile. “We work together well.”
Years prior, Affleck told The New York Times that the “biggest regret” of his life is “this divorce.”
“Shame is really toxic,” he noted. “There is no positive by-product of shame. It’s just stewing in a toxic, hideous feeling of low self-worth and self-loathing. I have certainly made mistakes. I have certainly done things that I regret. But you’ve got to pick yourself up, learn from it, learn some more, try to move forward.”
Affleck went on to rekindle his connection with Jennifer Lopez, with whom he was engaged to decades earlier. Affleck and Lopez, now 56, tied the knot in 2022 before news broke two years later that the pair had called it quits. In 2025, Affleck and Lopez publicly reunited for the first time since finalizing their divorce during the premiere of her new film, Kiss of the Spider Woman. The exes were all smiles as they posed together for photos on the red carpet.
Garner, meanwhile, has been with John Miller on and off since 2018.
