Chris Jericho has suddenly been referenced on WWE TV right before this year’s edition of Elimination Chamber. One of the iconic moments in his career was featured during the countdown to the PLE.
The Nueve has been linked to a return to the Stamford-based promotion for some time now, something that stems from reports that his AEW contract was expiring soon. However, this continues to be an uncertainty due to his contract currently frozen by the Jacksonville-based promotion. It is unclear how this will be resolved.
During the Countdown to Elimination Chamber earlier tonight, WWE featured a top 10 list for iconic moments in the PLE’s history. Shown at number 6 was the 2010 Elimination Chamber match, which saw Shawn Michaels cost The Undertaker the match, and allowed Chris Jericho to walk out as the victor and the new World Heavyweight Champion.
This can be found at the 1:33:23 to 1:33:30 mark of the video below.
It is interesting to note that yesterday, Jericho posted a clip of the same match on his Instagram Story, highlighting the exchanges he had with the Deadman inside the chamber.
Chris Jericho’s status ahead of WWE Elimination Chamber 2026
There has been heavy speculation that Y2J could make his return to WWE tonight at Elimination Chamber. The biggest rumor going around was him being inside the wooden crate that was shipped to Chicago for tonight’s event.
Unfortunately, there is a low chance of this happening, seeing as Jericho is still listed under AEW’s roster page. He is technically still under contract due to his deal being frozen. It is unclear when this will be unfrozen, and when the timer to his contract expiry will officially begin.
There is still a chance for Chris Jericho to return to WWE this year. But this will only happen if he is fully cleared to leave AEW and if he decides to sign with them. Fans should stay tuned for further developments on the situation.
