Atmos Rewards offers fantastic value to Alaska Airlines and Hawaiian Airlines flyers, but I love this loyalty program for its stellar award rates with Oneworld partners, such as American Airlines, Japan Airlines and Qantas.
The Atmos™ Rewards Ascent Visa Signature® credit card is an excellent airline card to earn Atmos Rewards points. Its current welcome offer for new cardholders to earn 70,000 bonus points and a $99 Companion Fare (plus taxes and fees from $23) after spending $3,000 on purchases within the first 90 days from account opening provides standout value for a modest $95 annual fee.
With this solid welcome bonus on the Atmos Rewards Ascent, you may be wondering just how good this deal is. Here’s my take on this offer, how to maximize the bonus and who’s best suited for it.
How common is this offer on the Atmos Rewards Ascent?
Since the Atmos Rewards Ascent card is less than a year old, there are only a handful of offers in its history to compare with the current 70,000-point bonus (plus a $99 Companion Fare).
The first offer the Atmos Rewards Ascent ever had allowed new cardholders to earn 80,000 bonus points and a $99 Companion Fare (plus taxes and fees from $23) after spending $4,000 on purchases within the first 120 days from account opening (offer no longer available).
The second offer in the card’s history provided new cardholders 60,000 bonus points and a $99 Companion Fare (plus taxes and fees from $23) after spending $3,000 on purchases in the first 90 days from account opening, plus a 30% global flight discount code for a qualifying future flight after opening their new account (offer no longer available).
We recommend applying for the Atmos Rewards Ascent anytime it’s offering more than 60,000 points, so this 70,000-point bonus certainly meets that criteria. Plus, the current bonus requires $1,000 less in spending than the former 80,000-point offer, so it may be a better fit for some spenders.

Who is eligible for the welcome bonus on the Atmos Rewards Ascent?
The Atmos Rewards Ascent card is issued by Bank of America. As a result, you’ll be subject to Bank of America’s application restrictions when you apply for the card.

While Bank of America doesn’t have any published rules regarding how many total cards you can have, the issuer may not approve some customers with a Bank of America deposit account if they’ve opened seven cards (across all issuers) in the last 12 months, while customers without a deposit account may be rejected if they’ve opened three or more cards in the last 12 months.
However, as long as you are approved, Bank of America has not specified any card-specific rules restricting welcome bonus eligibility on the Atmos Rewards Ascent. As long as you are a new cardholder opening a new account, you should be eligible for the 70,000-point bonus, plus a $99 Companion Fare.

How much are 70,000 Atmos Rewards points plus a $99 Companion Fare worth?
The 70,000 bonus points on the Atmos Rewards Ascent card‘s welcome offer are worth $1,050, per TPG’s February 2026 valuations. When you combine this with the $99 Companion Fare, the bonus totals $1,149.
However, there are multiple ways to get even more out of 70,000 Atmos Rewards points. Here are some examples of flights you can book with the program’s partners to get your ideas flowing:

How does the $99 Companion Fare work?
The companion fare offered on the Atmos Rewards Ascent card‘s bonus is fantastic for travelers who plan to fly Alaska or Hawaiian with a friend or family member.
You’ll have a year after you earn the companion fare benefit to use it for a one-way or round-trip flight. The companion fare must be redeemed by 11:59 p.m. Pacific time on the expiration date, though the travel can be completed after that expiration date.
The benefit also carries some additional restrictions and items of note, as laid out on the Atmos Rewards companion fare FAQ page:
- Both the primary ticket holder and the companion must be booked on the same itinerary at the same time.
- Both travelers earn Atmos Rewards points on the flights.
- The certificate is valid only for saver or main cabin travel, though the tickets are eligible for upgrades.
- You do not have to be one of the travelers using your companion fare. However, you must use your Atmos Rewards card to pay for the tickets.
Carly Helfand, TPG’s director of points, miles and credit card content, once used the Ascent’s Companion Fare to take a last-minute trip to Chicago with her husband. Two round-trip flights from Portland International Airport (PDX) in Oregon to Chicago’s O’Hare International Airport (ORD) cost $542.60 each. But with the Companion Fare, Carly paid $679.63 for both tickets, saving $405.57.
This companion fare is also an ongoing anniversary benefit you can unlock by spending on the Atmos Rewards Ascent. If you spend at least $6,000 on your card in the prior anniversary year, you’ll earn an additional companion fare on your account anniversary to be used in the following year.

Net first-year value breakdown: Atmos Rewards Ascent
If you get approved for the Atmos Rewards Ascent card, earn its welcome bonus and maximize its perks, you can expect to receive $1,154 in net first-year value.
Here is how this breaks down:
- Welcome bonus value: $1,149, per TPG’s valuations (points and companion fare benefit combined)
- Alaska Lounge+ membership discount: $100 off an annual Alaska Lounge+ membership (which normally costs $795 per year) when you pay with this card
- Total potential first-year value: $1,249
- Annual fee: $95
- Net first-year value: $1,154
Keep in mind that cardholders will not receive outright airport lounge access (aside from the Alaska Lounge+ membership discount) or travel protections, such as baggage delay insurance and trip cancellation/interruption coverage. If these are important factors to you, you may want to consider a different airline card.

Is the Atmos Rewards Ascent’s 70,000-point bonus and $99 Companion Fare one of the best deals ever?
If you’re into collecting Atmos Rewards points, the current offer on the Atmos Rewards Ascent card shouldn’t be passed up. The combination of 70,000 points and a $99 Companion Fare in exchange for a $95 annual fee (relatively low in the mid-tier airline card landscape) makes this card worth your application.
Even beyond the strong welcome offer, there are five other reasons why I recommend the Atmos Rewards Ascent to multiple types of travelers:
- Annual companion fare: As mentioned above, you can earn a $99 Companion Fare upon each account anniversary, as long as you spend at least $6,000 on purchases with your card in the prior anniversary year.
- Good earning rates in multiple categories: The Atmos Rewards Ascent earns 3 points per dollar spent on eligible Alaska Airlines and Hawaiian Airlines purchases and 2 points per dollar spent on cable, at electric vehicle charging and gas stations, on local transit and ride-hailing services, and on select streaming services. Cardholders with an eligible Bank of America account also receive a 10% bonus on all points earned.
- High-value rewards: Atmos Rewards points are valuable and can be used to book a variety of itineraries around the world with Alaska, Hawaiian or one of its partners.
- Low annual fee: This card charges a $95 annual fee, making it among the least expensive airline cobranded cards on the market.
- Valuable perks when flying with Alaska or Hawaiian: Cardholders can enjoy benefits such as a free checked bag and preferred boarding when flying with either of these airlines.
- Welcome bonus: The bonus points and companion fare benefit included in this offer are worth $1,149, per TPG’s valuations. This offer is among the highest in the card’s short history and provides a high number of points for relatively low spending.

Bottom line
There are multiple reasons to love the Atmos Rewards Ascent card as an Alaska Airlines and/or Hawaiian Airlines flyer, but it can also provide excellent value to anyone looking to book Oneworld award flights.
