Former Uruguay striker Beto Acosta has revealed that his daughter complained about Ronaldo Nazario during her birthday party. She was unhappy that everyone stopped the music and dancing to pay attention to the Brazilian legend.
Speaking to El Espectador, Acota recalled his time with Ronaldo Nazario as a teammate during their season together at Corinthians. The Brazilian legend had just arrived after recovering from his knee injury, months after being released by AC Milan following the expiry of his contract.
Thanks for the submission!
Acosta claims that O Fenômemo arrived in a helicopter, wearing a pajama, during a training session, and the players just stood to applaud him. He added that there was a 3-day-long party at the Brazilian legend’s house after they won the Campeonato Paulista in 2009 and said (via AS):
“In the middle of training one day, a helicopter starts descending. And who steps out? ‘O Fenômemo’, wearing pajamas. We all just started applauding. When we won the Paulista undefeated, we threw a party at Ronaldo’s place that went on for three days.”
The Uruguayan’s funniest recollection of O Fenômemo was the arrival at his daughter’s birthday party. He revealed that his daughter had no idea who the legendary footballer was and was upset that the people gathered were more interested in him than in partying.
“The funniest one was at my daughter’s birthday. It was all music and dancing until Ronaldo showed up. Suddenly the party stopped. My daughter came to me crying: ‘Dad, that fat guy arrived and the party’s over.’ Try explaining to a kid who that ‘fat guy’ was…”
O Fenômemo was known for his parties during his time at Real Madrid, which eventually led to his exit from the club.
Fabio Capello ‘kicked’ Ronaldo Nazario out of Real Madrid
Former Real Madrid manager Fabio Capello revealed in 2023 that he decided to sell Ronaldo Nazario after the Brazilian arrived in the Real Madrid dressing room smelling of alcohol. He recalled the legendary striker gaining too much weight as well and told SPORT:
“In 2007 I decided to get rid of Nazario, he was someone who liked to party and encouraged the group to go out with him. One day Van Nistelrooy came and told me: ‘Sir, it smells like alcohol here in the locker room’ and it was true. He weighed 94 kg that year. In Korea, at the 2002 World Cup, he weighed 82. I told him to lose weight… he reached 92.5kg.”
Capello revealed last year that the Brazilian is the most talented player he has ever coached.
