Triple H’s actions in WWE have been labeled as “overtly racist” by a former WWE champion. The Game is the current Chief Content Officer of the promotion and oversees the creative aspects.
Before taking his role in the office, he was positioned as a top heel on RAW during the Ruthless Aggression Era and had quite a few notable feuds. However, he was also a part of the infamous angle with Hall of Famer Booker T in the buildup to their match at WrestleMania 19.
Thanks for the submission!
The Cerebral Assassin’s promos during the feud were considered tone-deaf, and many fans believed they carried racial undertones. The outcome of the match, which saw HHH retain the World Heavyweight Title didn’t help either.
During an appearance on the Marking Out podcast, former WWE United States champion MVP talked about how there is no more space for racist characters and references in modern-day pro wrestling. He then brought up Triple H’s promos against Booker T, calling them “overt racism.”
“I think racist characters now, they’re not good for you. And people know I always go in on Triple H and how I don’t like him or respect him. But if you look at that promo that he cut on Booker T going into WrestleMania, it was this overt racism,” he said.
MVP said he doesn’t understand the motivation behind such angles, especially in today’s world.
“I don’t know why anybody would, especially in modern times, would want to present their character as an overt racist. I don’t know what that does for you, especially in these modern times in terms of heat, when we all know it’s entertainment,” he added.
MVP has called Triple H a coward
MVP has not shied away from talking about his dislike of Triple H. The AEW star has openly said that he has zero respect for the former World Heavyweight Champion.
Last year, in an interview with Adventure Gamers, MVP said he agreed with Bret Hart’s assertion that HHH is a “phony” and said many other wrestlers hold the same opinion.
He said that the current WWE CCO was a “liar” and a “coward.” MVP said he had no respect for him because of how he carries himself.
