Initial Stop in Yagoona

On December 31, officers pulled over a Toyota sedan on Dargan Street in Yagoona. During the stop, police seized drugs, cash, and three mobile phones. The driver, a 31-year-old man, was arrested and transported to Bankstown Police Station.

He faced initial charges including supplying a prohibited drug in a quantity greater than small but less than indictable, recklessly dealing with proceeds of crime under $5,000, and using a light vehicle that did not comply with standards. The man received conditional bail from the Bail Division Local Court on January 1.

Forensic Examination Reveals Extremist Content

Analysis of the seized phones uncovered violent extremist material on one device, prompting further investigation.

Follow-Up Warrant in Bass Hill

NSW Police executed a commonwealth warrant at a residence in Bass Hill on Wednesday. Officers seized additional phones, storage devices, and a knife. The 31-year-old man was arrested again and taken to Bankstown Police Station.

He now faces charges of using a carriage service to possess violent extremist material and possessing or using a prohibited weapon without a permit. Conditional bail was granted at Bankstown Local Court, with his next court appearance scheduled for March 3.
