There has been a surprising report regarding AJ Styles following his WWE retirement. The veteran lost to Gunther in his retirement match at Royal Rumble 2026 last month in Saudi Arabia.
According to a new report from PWInsider, AJ Styles has been spotted at the WWE Performance Center today. It was announced earlier this week on the red brand that there will be a tribute to The Phenomenal One during next week’s edition of WWE RAW.
Thanks for the submission!
Gunther retired John Cena and Goldberg last year before putting an end to Styles’ in-ring career last month. The Ring General competed in an Elimination Chamber qualifying match this past Monday night on RAW, but came up short.
Je’Von Evans pinned Dominik Mysterio in the Triple Threat match to earn a spot in the Men’s Elimination Chamber match at the PLE on February 28. CM Punk is also scheduled to defend the World Heavyweight Championship against Finn Balor at Elimination Chamber 2026 later this month.
Retired WWE star reveals he was not supposed to face AJ Styles at Crown Jewel 2025
Wrestling legend John Cena revealed that he was supposed to battle Drew McIntyre instead of AJ Styles at WWE Crown Jewel last year in Australia.
Speaking on No-Contest Wrestling, The Cenation Leader shared that the company decided to pivot from the planned match against McIntyre to give fans a feel-good moment. He added that the promotion listens to how fans respond and changes accordingly.
“I tried to plan it as a year of creative experiences. You also have to be able to pivot. AJ [Styles] was supposed to be Drew [McIntyre]. We pivoted, but we wanted to give them a feel-good moment because they were listening to the data points. Like they listen to you guys. They do. It’s real,” Cena said.
AJ Styles put his gloves back on following his loss to Gunther at the Royal Rumble, leading to wrestling fans speculating about his future. It will be interesting to see what the promotion has planned for the tribute to the 48-year-old on next week’s edition of RAW.
