Wide receiver George Pickens has yet to finalize a new contract with the Dallas Cowboys. He had an impressive 2025 campaign after being traded by the Pittsburgh Steelers last May.

As Pickens waits to negotiate a new deal, future Hall of Famer and Super Bowl XXXIV champion Torry Holt has a message for the wide receiver.

“George is unbelievably talented,” Holt said on Thursday on the ‘Up & Adams’ show. “The only thing I want George to get better at is his situational football. Lock in all the time. Know the situation. Be aware of what’s going on. Grow up, in a sense, is basically what I’m saying. I would like to see George grow up more, take accountability of his actions. ….

“He has the physical ability. He’s got somebody in Dak that can get it to him. I just want to see George, whether he’s in Dallas or somewhere else, I just want to see him grow up and really take that next step as one of the dominant receiver in the National Football League.”

George Pickens joined the Cowboys on the final year of his four-year rookie deal. He recorded 1,429 yards and nine TDs receiving. However, Jerry Jones’ team finished second in the NFC East with a 7-9-1 record, failing to qualify for the playoffs.

Last Saturday, as per NFL insider Adam Schefter, the Cowboys are planning to move in a different direction in Pickens’ case. They might potentially franchise tag him for the upcoming season with a projected deal worth around $28 million.

Dak Prescott shares his thoughts on wanting George Pickens to remain with the Cowboys

In one season, George Pickens established himself as a key player on the offense.

Last week, quarterback Dak Prescott weighed in on the wide receiver’s contract situation. He said that the Cowboys should do everything in their power to retain Pickens for the upcoming season.

“It doesn’t matter, whichever way that they got to do it, he’s an important piece of this offense, and important piece of what we’re trying to do,” Prescott said. “I’ll leave it to those guys. Obviously, if needed to get involved, I’ve said it before, I will. But (I’m) confident in (Jerry Jones) and everybody who makes those decisions and how much he means to us.”

Will the Cowboys finalize a deal with Pickens before free agency begins in March?
