David Beckham recently shared a poignant Instagram story featuring a collection of his football boots from throughout his career. Among the cleats embroidered with the names of his children—Romeo, Cruz, Harper, and Brooklyn—the post subtly highlights cherished family memories amid ongoing tensions with his eldest son.
Signs of Strained Family Ties
Brooklyn Beckham, 26, publicly addressed a rift with his parents earlier this year. In an Instagram statement, he accused his family of meddling in his marriage to actress Nicola Peltz and expressed no desire for reconciliation. Reports also note that Brooklyn altered a tattoo previously dedicated to his father, removing the word ‘Dad,’ which observers interpret as a symbol of their discord.
Wedding Day Disputes
Brooklyn detailed grievances from his 2022 wedding at the Peltz family estate in Palm Beach. He claimed his parents attempted to undermine his relationship even before the event. ‘My parents have been trying endlessly to ruin my relationship since before my wedding, and it hasn’t stopped,’ Brooklyn wrote.
Further accusations include his mother canceling Nicola’s wedding dress at the last minute, despite her excitement for the custom design, and hijacking their planned first dance. ‘In front of our 500 wedding guests, Marc Anthony called me to the stage… but instead, my mom was waiting to dance with me,’ he stated. ‘She danced very inappropriately on me in front of everyone. I’ve never felt more uncomfortable or humiliated in my entire life.’
To move past these issues, Nicola and Brooklyn renewed their vows in August 2025 at the Peltz family estate in Bedford, Westchester County, New York, aiming to create joyful new memories.
Nelson Peltz Comments on the Couple
Nicola’s father, Nelson Peltz, addressed the situation during a Q&A at the WSJD Invest Live event in West Palm Beach. The 83-year-old billionaire, founding partner of Trian Fund Management and non-executive chairman of Wendy’s Company, Sysco, and Madison Square Garden Company, said: ‘My daughter is great, my son-in-law, Brooklyn, is great, and I look forward to them having a long, happy marriage together.’
When asked about advice for the couple, Peltz replied: ‘I do. Sometimes they give me advice.’
Rumors of Financial Support Denied
Recent speculation suggested Peltz provides Nicola with a $1 million monthly allowance, a claim journalist Marina Hyde referenced on The Rest Is Entertainment podcast. Hyde noted: ‘From what I hear, I think the Beckhams give Brooklyn a lot of money but not insane money… Maybe Nelson Peltz would deny this, but I hear that he said to them, “I give my daughter a million dollars a month allowance.”‘
Sources refute this entirely, stating it is a fabricated rumor with no basis in fact.
