Rhea Ripley’s match on WWE SmackDown was a big event as the titles were on the line. However, things did not go as planned, and there was a huge botch, even though WWE chose to ignore it.

Rhea Ripley’s match had a big WWE botch that was completely ignored by the referee

Rhea Ripley and IYO SKY teamed up to defend the Women’s Tag Team Championships against Kiana James and Giulia. The two champions were in for a big match as they both tried their utmost to retain the tag team titles.

However, although they were eventually successful, the win carries an asterisk. There was a moment when Rhea Ripley was about to hit Kiana James with a Razor’s Edge, a move that she had borrowed from her friend and teammate, Damian Priest.

Why Did WWE Waste This Year’s Royal Rumble? Find Out!

During the move, Giulia grabbed Kiana James’ legs from the apron. The referee spotted it and acknowledged it was a tag. However, the wrestlers did not spot or acknowledge it, and they continued to wrestle as if Kiana James was the actual legal person in the ring.

She was pinned later for a near-fall immediately after. She tagged in Giulia later, making the same tag twice, which did not actually count. The star was in complete control during the match, and Giulia nearly won the bout for her team as well, even though she was not even the legal participant.

Finally, the match ended with Ripley and IYO SKY hitting their combo finishers, but even then, when Giulia was being pinned, she was not the legal participant. This happened despite the referee clearly knowing that the Giulia was not the legal participant in the match at the time, having seen it earlier that night.
