Swashbuckling opener Vaibhav Suryavanshi was at his destructive best once again in the U19 World Cup 2026 final. The ongoing fixture between India and England is being played on Friday, February 6, in Harare.
Aaron George and Vaibhav Suryavanshi walked to open the batting for India after they won the toss. While George was dismissed early, Suravanshi was at his usual business from the other end. The left-hander was in the mood as he mercilessly toyed with the England bowlers.
Taking them to the cleaners, he smashed a stunning 175 off just 80 balls with 15 fours and as many sixes at a strike rate of 218.75. Suryavanshi ended the T20 World Cup 2026 with 439 runs from seven innings at an average of 62.71 and a strike rate of 169.49 with a century and three fifties.
That said, let us take a look at five massive records made by Vaibhav Suryavanshi during his blistering 175-run display.
#5 Most sixes in a single U19 World Cup innings
Vaibhav Suryavanshi’s six-hitting ability was on complete display against England. He cleared the rope at will and smashed sixes for fun. The left-hander hit 15 sixes in his blistering knock. He broke the record for the most sixes hit in a single 19 World Cup innings.
The record was previously held by Australia’s Michael Hill, who had slammed 12 sixes against Namibia at Penang in 2008. He also went past Craig Simmons, who had hit 11 sixes against Kenya at Dunedin in 2002. Suryavanshi also surpassed his own record (14) for the most sixes in a Youth ODI innings.
#4 Most sixes in a single U19 World Cup edition
Vaibhav Suryavanshi’s six-hitting extravaganza has been on display throughout the U19 World Cup 2026. He smashed a total of 30 sixes, which is the most by any batter in a single U19 World Cup edition.
The record was previously held by South Africa’s Dewald Brevis and New Zealand’s Finn Allen. Brevis had hit 18 sixes in 2022, while Allen had hit 18 twice in 2016 and 2018.
#3 Sixth batter to score a hundred in a U19 World Cup final
By reaching the three-figure mark, Vaibhav Suryavanshi joined an elite list. He became only the sixth batter to score a hundred in the final of the U19 World Cup. Suryavanshi joined fellow ex-India U19 stars Unmukt Chand and Manjot Kalra.
Unmukt had scored an unbeaten 111 in the 2012 final against Australia, while Manjot scored an unbeaten 101 in the 2018 final against Australia. The others on the list are Brett Williams (1988), Stephen Peters (1998), and Jarrad Burke (2002).
#2 Second-fastest hundred in U19 World Cup
Vaibhav Suryavanshi’s hundred was also the second-fastest in U19 World Cup history. He got to his century off just 55 balls and inside 20 overs. The left-hander closely missed out on the record for the fastest U19 World Cup ton, which is held by Australia’s Will Malajczuk, who struck a 51-ball ton against Japan in the 2026 edition.
However, Suryavanshi went past Pakistan’s Qasim Akram (63 balls), England’s Ben Mayes (65 balls), and India’s Raj Bawa (69 balls).
#1 Fastest U19 150
Vaibhav Suryavanshi’s assault did not stop with a century. He went to make it a massive hundred, scoring 175. His 150 came up off just 71 balls and in grand fashion with a six.
He became the batter with the fastest 150 in the history of U19 cricket. Suryavanshi bettered the record that was held by Ben Mayes, who had gotten a 150 off 98 balls against Scotland in the 2026 edition.
