Cam Ward will have a pair of new coaches for the 2026 season, and he has some thoughts about how he will fare under the new system.

Last month, the Tennessee Titans hired Robert Saleh as their new head coach. Five days later, he named former New York Giants head coach Brian Daboll his offensive coordinator, succeeding Mike McCoy.

The new league year has not even begun yet, and Ward is already liking what he sees from his new playcaller. In an offseason interview, he said:

“I don’t need it, but I want it. And it’s not for my sake, because I know what I want to be – I don’t need a coach to pat me on the back or cuss me out. I want a coach like Daboll who is going to be the same each and every day. He is going to let me know the real, and I just have to respond.”

He continued:

“I like that he is a fiery coach. He is going to get on my ass when he needs to, and he is going to hold me to a high standard. And that’s the standard I want to be held to.”

Cam Ward sees new HC Robert Saleh as a “great hire” for Titans, praises organization for decision

Meanwhile, when it came to Robert Saleh, Cam Ward had nothing but good words to say and excitement about him:

“I think it’s a great hire, especially for the team and where we want to be identity-wise, what we want to put on the field. I think he’s respected among players across the league. … It has been good getting to know him, especially him starting to learn more about me, and me learning more about him.”

He also praised the management and ownership — especially general manager Mike Borgonzi, president of football operations Chad Brinker, and principal owner Amy Adams Strunk — for the decision:

“I think they got it right. And it makes me feel more comfortable, because we are building things not only for the future, but now. We have the players on the roster to do it right now, but we have to add a couple of more pieces. Once we do that, I think we’ll be a very good team, and we’ll be able to compete at the highest level.”

The new league year begins on March 11, and the Titans will look to improve on two consecutive 3-14 records.
