Citywide Manhunt Underway for Sexual Assault Suspect
Law enforcement officials in Windsor have launched an intensive search for 39-year-old Matthew Lewis Rivest, who faces multiple charges including sexual assault and forcible confinement of a minor. Authorities confirm the suspect is also wanted in connection with a separate criminal harassment investigation.
Charges and Investigation Details
The specialized Child Abuse and Sexual Assault unit is leading the investigation into Rivest, who currently faces charges of sexual assault, sexual interference, assault, forcible confinement, and three counts of criminal harassment. After extensive investigative efforts failed to locate the suspect, authorities now believe Rivest may have fled to Saskatchewan.
Public Assistance Requested
In an official release, authorities stated: “Following exhaustive attempts to locate the individual, we’re now requesting public assistance in this urgent matter.” Officials urge residents with any information to contact the specialized investigative unit directly or provide anonymous tips through Crime Stoppers.
Rivest is considered potentially dangerous, and the public is advised not to approach him. Investigators emphasize that any information, no matter how insignificant it may seem, could prove crucial in apprehending the suspect.
