Savannah Guthrie’s Today cohosts are thinking about her family as her mom, Nancy Guthrie, has been reported missing. During the Monday, February 2, broadcast, Sheinelle Jones and Craig Melvin introduced the “deeply personal story” and shared a statement from Savannah, 54, and her family. “On behalf of our family, I want to thank everyone for […]

News broke on Sunday, February 1, that Nancy, 84, was reported missing in Arizona when a family member called 911. She was last seen on Saturday, January 31.

“We can confirm this is a missing persons case, and the family is working closely with local law enforcement,” the Guthrie family — which includes Savannah, 54, brother Camron Guthrie and sister Annie Guthrie — said in a statement to NBC News on Monday, February 2.

The family added that they’re grateful for “the outreach, thoughts and prayers” they have received and urged anyone who might have relevant information regarding Nancy’s disappearance to contact authorities.

In a press conference on Monday, Pima County Sheriff Chris Nano claimed that a friend from Nancy’s church noticed she was absent at the service and called one of her kids, whom she shared with late husband Charles Guthrie.

The friend then went to Nancy’s home and searched before realizing, “We need some help.”

Authorities also shared that Nancy “didn’t leave on her own,” adding that her home was considered a crime scene.

“She couldn’t walk 50 yards by herself,” they added.

Nano added that foul play could not be “ruled out” and noted, “We’re going to canvas that neighborhood, maybe there’s a prowler [that’s] been seen around. There’s a lot of work still to do. We don’t have any indication that the public is still in danger.”

When asked whether Savannah had been threatened amid the disappearance, Nano said that the Today host had spoken to law enforcement and is currently in Arizona under the protection of security.

“She has a security team that’s been in touch with us throughout the night,” he noted. “We’re not gonna dismiss any angles for sure, but right now, immediately, we don’t know of anything like that.”

Savannah was absent from Today on Monday amid her mother’s disappearance.

“We want to get right to what is a deeply personal story for us,” her cohost Craig Melvin said. “Nancy Guthrie, Savannah’s beloved mother, has been reported missing in Arizona.”
