Gaudet Luce Golf & Leisure in Droitwich stands as a finalist for the Club of the Year honor at the 2026 England Golf Awards. The club marks a pivotal year marked by strong community engagement, broad inclusivity, and fresh approaches to player growth.
Spotlight on the Swing Into Golf Initiative
Central to the nomination is the club’s Swing Into Golf program, which has introduced over 250 newcomers to golf within seven months. This effort ranks among Worcestershire’s top entry points into the sport, focusing on accessibility for total beginners by dismantling common obstacles.
The program features a structured three-tier progression. It begins with a complimentary four-week Level 1 session, advancing participants to Levels 2 and 3. This framework seamlessly connects introductory range practice to self-directed gameplay, fostering skill development, self-assurance, and a lasting bond with golf.
More than 55 individuals have reached Level 3 and opted for the club’s affordable starter memberships. To support this influx, Gaudet Luce appointed a specialized Golf Participation and Events Manager, who guides new members into the club’s dynamic atmosphere.
Facilities and Inclusive Features
The venue boasts an 18-hole championship course, a 9-hole Par 3 layout, dedicated practice zones, and lively social spaces. These elements create a supportive setting for novices transitioning from coaching to casual rounds and eventual full involvement.
An welcoming policy allows non-members to access practice sessions and play, with short-game facilities available at no cost. The Par 3 course extends its appeal by incorporating disc golf and footgolf options, drawing in diverse athletic enthusiasts.
As a certified SafeGolf venue, the club emphasizes The Spirit of Golf principles, teaching vital etiquette to ensure newcomers navigate the course with ease and respect.
Community and Future Outlook
Beyond core programs, Gaudet Luce hosts varied events tailored for women, expands women’s apparel selections, and ramps up family-oriented pursuits to cultivate an inviting environment.
Looking forward, the club plans to roll out Level 4 of Swing Into Golf in March 2026, promising continued expansion and engagement.
