NVIDIA CEO Jensen Huang stated that the company intends to invest significantly in OpenAI’s current funding round. This commitment comes amid discussions about reevaluating an earlier proposed $100 billion agreement that remains in preliminary stages.

Huang’s Statements on the Investment

During a recent appearance in Taipei, Huang described the potential investment as possibly the largest in NVIDIA’s history. He emphasized strong support for OpenAI, calling their contributions remarkable and positioning them as one of the era’s most influential organizations.

Huang dismissed recent speculation about backing away from the partnership, labeling such reports as unfounded. He affirmed, “I believe in OpenAI. The work that they do is incredible. They’re one of the most consequential companies of our time.”

Background on the Proposed Deal

In September, NVIDIA and OpenAI announced a collaboration to develop up to 10 gigawatts of AI data centers, with an initial investment capped at $100 billion. The first phase of this project aims to launch in the second half of 2026.

Sources familiar with the matter indicate that the agreement lacks binding commitments, and Huang has privately expressed concerns over OpenAI’s operational strategies, citing a need for greater focus. Despite these views, NVIDIA plans to proceed with a substantial but scaled-back contribution in the ongoing funding effort, far below the $100 billion figure.
