Shirley Raines, homeless advocate and nonprofit founder, dies.

Shirley Raines, a Compton lady who devoted her life to offering for the homeless and based the nonprofit Magnificence 2 The Streetz has died, her group introduced. She was 58.

“Ms. Shirley devoted her life to serving others and made an immeasurable impression on homeless communities all through Los Angeles and Nevada,” a message posted to Raines’ X account on Wednesday learn. “By means of her tireless advocacy, deep compassion, and unwavering dedication, she used her highly effective media platform to amplify the voices of these in want and to carry dignity, assets, and hope to a few of the most undeserved populations.”

For years, Raines and her group have served folks experiencing homelessness throughout the area, offering them providers like hair coloration, make-up and cellular showers. Through the pandemic, their help included handing out face masks, hand sanitizers, nutritional vitamins and extra.

“They should see a pleasant face,” she advised The Occasions in 2020. “They should know they’re not forgotten.”

Raines had six kids and lived in Lengthy Seaside.

“Her journey stands as a testomony to the assumption that everybody, no matter their circumstances, deserves to really feel valued,” her founder web page on the the Magnificence 2 The Streetz web site stated. “Shirley responded to the decision to carry magnificence, help and hope to these seen but usually ignored by society.”
