Donald Trump has threatened to invoke the Rebellion Act, which might permit him to ship U.S. army forces into Minnesota. The president did so in a Fact Social publish on Thursday, following protests towards Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) within the state and throughout the nation demanding justice after the killing of 37-year-old mom Renee Good in Minneapolis.

Stephen Colbert reacted to Trump’s risk throughout his Late Present monologue on Thursday evening.

“With Minnesota below siege by masked, armed goons victimising Americans, Trump threatened to invoke the Rebellion Act. Properly, that may calm everyone down,” he mentioned. “I am certain Minnesotans will simply love that. That is why all of the protesters’ indicators say, ‘ICE go residence, then come again in a tank.'”

Colbert then defined the Rebellion Act to his viewers:

“Enjoyable reality, the Rebellion Act permits the president to deploy members of the army or federalise the State Nationwide Guard to comprise an revolt within the U.S. state and maintain on…maintain on…I am being given a correction: That reality was not enjoyable. My mistake.”
