A gunman killed not less than 10 folks and wounded 10 others in an assault at a township outdoors Johannesburg, police mentioned Sunday, within the second mass taking pictures in South Africa this month.

The motive for the assault in Bekkersdal, 25 miles southwest of the town, was not clear, police instructed Agence France-Press.

“Some victims had been randomly shot within the streets by unknown gunmen,” a police assertion mentioned.

“Ten individuals are useless. We do not have a breakdown of who they’re,” Brigadier Brenda Muridili, police spokesperson for Gauteng province, instructed AFP.

The taking pictures occurred close to a tavern or casual bar in Bekkersdal, an impoverished space close to a few of South Africa’s main gold mines.

The wounded had been taken to hospital, police mentioned.

On Dec. 6, gunmen stormed a hostel close to the capital Pretoria, killing a dozen folks together with a three-year-old little one.

Police mentioned the taking pictures was at a web site that was illegally promoting alcohol.

South Africa, house to 63 million folks, suffers from a excessive crime charge, together with one of many highest homicide charges on the planet.
