Foreign Secretary Yvette Cooper has drawn sharp criticism for declining an invitation to appear on GB News, where columnist Camilla Tominey sought to question her on Labour Party matters.
Tominey’s On-Air Critique
During Sunday morning’s GB News broadcast, presenters Mark White and Anne Diamond discussed Cooper’s absence with Tominey. White remarked, “Once again the Foreign Secretary is avoiding your show – she’s frit, isn’t she?”
Tominey ed frustration over Labour leaders’ reluctance to join her program. She highlighted that Prime Minister Keir Starmer and Chancellor Rachel Reeves have also never appeared. “I have huge admiration for those who do,” Tominey stated. “If you can’t face a grilling by me on behalf of the public, then literally what is the point of you?”
She added, “We don’t know why they run scared beyond the idea that they are a little bit frightened of being Tominied on a Sunday morning.”
Viewer Reactions on X
Audience members on X (formerly Twitter) voiced strong opinions. One user described Cooper as a “certified Ninja-Level Question Dodger,” noting her readiness to face global challenges but avoidance of live TV questions: “Bravest move she’s made all week: running away faster than a vegan from a steakhouse.”
Another commented, “They are cowards, and it shows that Camilla won’t ask soft questions and let her get away with waffle. She will ask questions Cooper would not be able to answer as she’s bl**dy clueless.”
A third observed, “Aye, if you’re in politics, you can’t shy away from a bit of heat – might as well bring a BBQ if you’re not ready for a grilling! But dodging questions just stirs the pot, isn’t it?”
Defenders countered, with one asking, “Why should she appear on such a minuscule GREAT BRITISH NERDS TV STATION? Just look at the poor quality of the presenters!” Another noted, “GB News is only watched by 7% of the adults in the UK. That’s why politicians don’t bother with it.”
GB News broadcasts daily on Freeview, Sky, and YouTube.
