“Superman” soared into theaters this weekend, snapping up an estimated $122 million in home ticket gross sales and launching a brand new period of DC superhero flicks.

The movie marks the primary theatrical debut of James Gunn and Peter Safran since they grew to become co-heads of Warner Bros. Discovery’s DC Comics movie and TV unit in late 2022. The pair has developed a 10-year plan to reinvigorate the studio’s franchises throughout TV and movie, together with contemporary spins on Superman and Batman.
