To the editor: Schools are manner too costly; I don’t assume anybody disputes that. There are many causes for this, not the least of which is the best way faculties reap the benefits of pupil loans. Basically, they will write in any quantity for what they need for tuition — college students will all the time be capable to get loans. So faculties fortunately enhance prices.
However the UC tuition hike proposal actually obtained me (“College students oppose UC tuition hikes. Leaders say campuses want cash within the Trump period,” Nov. 18). Why the heck is among the tuition enhance going to monetary help? UC goes to cost extra in tuition for … cash that goes towards tuition? That’s artificially rising the price of faculty.
As a substitute of funding monetary help that manner, why doesn’t UC simply, effectively, decrease tuition for everybody? If prices are decrease, you don’t want as a lot monetary help.
