The president introduced the transfer in a message to Carney on Fact Social, saying the Board of Peace “is withdrawing its invitation to you concerning Canada’s becoming a member of, what can be, probably the most prestigious Board of Leaders ever assembled, at any time.”

Mr. Trump’s push to amass Greenland has come after he has repeatedly needled Canada over its sovereignty and prompt it even be absorbed america as a 51st state.

He resumed that this week, posting an altered picture on social media displaying a map of america that included Canada, Venezuela, Greenland and Cuba as a part of its territory.

In his message Saturday, Mr. Trump continued his provocations by calling Canada’s chief “Governor Carney.” Mr. Trump had used the identical nickname for Carney’s predecessor, Justin Trudeau, and his use of it towards Carney was the most recent mark of their soured relationship.

Carney has not but reached a cope with Mr. Trump to cut back a few of the tariffs that he has imposed on key sectors of the Canadian financial system. However Canada has been protected by the heaviest influence of Trump’s tariffs by the Canada-U.S.-Mexico Settlement. That commerce settlement is up for a evaluate this yr.
