President Trump on Saturday pointed to a federal legislation that grants the president broad authority to limit immigration simply days after unveiling a sweeping new immigration agenda.
In a Reality Social submit, Trump highlighted Part 212(f) of the Immigration and Nationality Act, which permits the president to “droop the entry” of non-U.S. residents at any time when it’s deemed “detrimental” to the nationwide curiosity.
“Every time the President finds that the entry of any aliens or of any class of aliens into the USA can be detrimental to the pursuits of the USA, he could by proclamation, and for such interval as he shall deem crucial, droop the entry of all aliens or any class of aliens as immigrants or nonimmigrants, or impose on the entry of aliens any restrictions he could deem to be applicable,” Trump wrote, quoting the legislation.

The president posted amid intensifying immigration actions by his administration after the taking pictures of two Nationwide Guard members in Washington, D.C., Wednesday.
On Thursday, Trump vowed to halt immigration from “Third World international locations,” reverse Biden-era admissions and take away international nationals he considers public threats, safety dangers or “non-compatible with Western Civilization.”
