President Trump defended Saudi Arabia’s Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman when questioned within the Oval Workplace Tuesday about CIA findings that the prince authorized the killing of Washington Publish columnist Jamal Khashoggi.

“You are mentioning any person that was extraordinarily controversial,” Trump stated, referring to Khashoggi. “Lots of people did not like that gentleman that you just’re speaking about. The CIA concluded the crown prince authorized the 2018 operation that killed and dismembered Khashoggi within the Saudi consulate in Turkey, however Salman maintained he had no data of the assault, which he is known as “heinous” and “unjustifiable.”

Saudi journalist Jamal Khashoggi was killed at the Saudi consulate in Istanbul on October 2, 2018. Five years on, there has been little accountability — and human rights groups say that has implications for free expression around the world.
