President Donald Trump announced that U.S. Central Command executed one of the most powerful bombing raids in Middle East history, completely destroying every military target on Iran’s Kharg Island, referred to as the nation’s “crown jewel.” The strike occurred on the evening of March 13.
Trump emphasized that advanced U.S. weapons spared the island’s oil infrastructure out of decency but warned that any interference with safe passage through the Strait of Hormuz would prompt reconsideration. He asserted Iran’s inability to defend against U.S. attacks and declared that the regime will never acquire nuclear weapons.
Trump’s Full Statement on Truth Social
In a post on Truth Social, Trump stated: “Moments ago, at my direction, the United States Central Command executed one of the most powerful bombing raids in the History of the Middle East, and totally obliterated every MILITARY target in Iran’s crown jewel, Kharg Island. Our Weapons are the most powerful and sophisticated that the World has ever known but, for reasons of decency, I have chosen NOT to wipe out the Oil Infrastructure on the Island.”
He continued: “However, should Iran, or anyone else, do anything to interfere with the Free and Safe Passage of Ships through the Strait of Hormuz, I will immediately reconsider this decision. During my First Term, and currently, I rebuilt our Military into the Most Lethal, Powerful, and Effective Force, by far, anywhere in the World. Iran has NO ability to defend anything that we want to attack — There is nothing they can do about it!”
Trump added: “Iran will NEVER have a nuclear weapon, nor will it have the ability to threaten the United States of America, the Middle East or, for that matter, the World! Iran’s Military, and all others involved with this Terrorist Regime, would be wise to lay down their arms, and save what’s left of their country, which isn’t much!”
U.S. Military Reinforcements
U.S. forces have deployed 2,500 Marines and an amphibious assault ship to the Middle East, bolstering presence amid nearly two weeks of conflict with Iran.
Explosion in Tehran
A significant explosion disrupted a central square in Tehran during a large state-organized rally supporting Palestinians and opposing Israel. Israel had issued prior warnings of potential strikes in the area. No casualties were reported from the incident, which occurred despite attendance by senior officials.
Escalating Regional Conflict
Iran persists with missile and drone assaults on Israel and Gulf states while effectively blocking the Strait of Hormuz, a vital route for one-fifth of global oil trade. U.S. and Israeli aircraft continue strikes on Iranian targets. The ongoing war disrupts the global economy with no resolution in sight.
