Jon Gruden turns down Jets offensive coordinator position

The New York Jets reportedly inquired with Jon Gruden, a former NFL head coach with the Raiders and Buccaneers, about their open offensive coordinator position. Gruden wasn’t interested. The Jets parted ways with OC Tanner Engstrand, along with a handful of other assistants, on Tuesday. Engstrand joined New York last season with head coach Aaron Glenn, and lasted only one season. After missing out on Gruden, the Jets will have to look for new candidates.

Packers release CB Trevon Diggs

Trevon Diggs’ stay in Green Bay wasn’t long. The Packers released the standout cornerback on Tuesday. Diggs was claimed by the Packers in late December following his release by the Dallas Cowboys. Diggs played just 33 defensive snaps between his two games with the Packers, with 32 of those snaps coming in their regular-season finale against the Minnesota Vikings. 

With his release, Diggs will be subject to waivers. If he’s claimed, Diggs’ season would essentially be over, as the waiver assignment wouldn’t take place until after the Super Bowl. But if he goes unclaimed, Diggs would become a free agent and would be able to play with any of the remaining teams. 

Diggs was a two-time Pro Bowler with the Cowboys before getting released in December.

Seattle will have to rely on Kenneth Walker at running back for the rest of the postseason. Charbonnet will undergo season-ending knee surgery, head coach Mike Macdonald said on Jan. 19. Charbonnet tore his ACL in the Seahawks’ divisional round win over the San Francisco 49ers, ESPN later reported.

Charbonnet led the Seahawks in dashing touchdowns within the common season, together with his 12 dashing touchdowns additionally being tied for the second-most within the NFL. He additionally rushed for 730 yards on 4 yards per carry. 

Walker was capable of decide up the slack, after which some, in Charbonnet’s absence within the divisional spherical. He rushed for 116 yards on 6.1 yards per carry and three touchdowns.
