Romanian tennis participant Sorana Cirstea is claiming she was robbed of some treasured {hardware} whereas in New York Metropolis for the 2025 US Open. 

“Whoever stole my Cleveland trophy from room 314 @thefiftysonesta please give it again!” Cirstea, 35, wrote by way of her Instagram Story on Saturday, August 30. “It has NO materials worth, simply sentimental worth! It could be drastically appreciated! Thanks, Sorana.”

Cirstea’s trophy was allegedly stolen from The Fifty Sonesta Lodge New York, positioned in midtown Manhattan.

In a press release to CBS Information, the overall supervisor of the resort mentioned, “We’re in shut communication with our valued visitor relating to the reported lacking merchandise. Our director of security and safety, a retired NYPD detective, is personally overseeing the investigation.” 

Cirstea, the No. 41 ranked girls’s tennis participant on the planet, received the trophy on the Tennis within the Land event on Sunday, August 24. She defeated American Ann Li within the ultimate, 6-2, 6-4.

The win marked Cirstea’s third WTA singles title and her first in 4 years. 

Cirstea competed in each singles and doubles on the 2025 US Open. 

In singles, Cirstea misplaced to Karolina Muchova within the second spherical on Thursday, August 28. Cirstea and her doubles associate, Anna Kalinskaya, misplaced to People McCartney Kessler and Peyton Stearns within the first spherical on Friday, August 29. 

After Cirstea took to social media to announce the alleged theft of her trophy, the Tennis within the Land event stepped as much as the plate. 

“We will’t allow you to go dwelling with none {hardware}!” the event posted by way of Instagram on Sunday, tagging an awards and attire model and vowing to “make issues proper.”

Cirstea reposted the message to her Instagram Story on Monday, September 1, alongside three red-heart emojis. 

The tennis star boasted about her Tennis within the Land victory by way of Instagram final weekend, posting a photograph of herself internet hosting the trophy. 

“Thanks @tennisintheland @wta for the fantastic week,” Cirstea wrote on August 24. “This title made me very comfortable ☺️❤️🎾🏆.”

After successful the event in Cleveland, Cirstea thanked the followers in attendance for his or her help all week. 

“From the primary match of [qualifying], I felt the power, I felt welcome, and I actually cherished the town and the vibe,” Cirstea mentioned after defeating Li within the ultimate. “You would see on the courtroom how relaxed and the way a lot I used to be having fun with [myself].
