At least three people were killed and six others were hurt when a car crashed into a grocery store in the Westwood area of Los Angeles, according to Los Angeles Fire Department officials.

The crash is being investigated as accidental, officials said.

First responders work the scene of a fatal crash outside of a 99 Ranch Market, Feb. 5, 2026, in the Westwood neighborhood of Los Angeles.

It appears the driver hit a bicyclist and then “unintentionally lost control” of her Toyota Prius, which continued before crashing into the market, LAPD Capt. Anthony Espinoza said during a press briefing.

The driver — a woman who’s about 70 years old — is being evaluated by medical professionals and is speaking with officers, officials said.

“The incident is unintentional, and it’s just an unfortunate accident,” LAPD Capt. Anthony Espinoza said during a press briefing.

Six people were injured: two suffered serious or critical injuries; two had minor or moderate injuries; and two declined to be taken to a hospital, officials said.

It appears some victims were trapped under the car, which ended up inside the market, officials said.

The cyclist suffered minor injuries and has been released from the hospital, police said.
