Barack Obama’s interview with the Associated Press has gone viral this week, after the former U.S. president engaged in a quickfire chat about alien life. “Are aliens real?” podcast host Brian Tyler Cohen asked. “They’re real,” Obama answered. “But I haven’t seen them. And, they’re not being kept in Area 51.”

“That’s it. We’ve got aliens!” the Late Show host said during his monologue on Monday night, before shunning Obama’s attempt to clarify his statement on Instagram the next day.

“Booooooo! What happened to hope, buddy? This is why everyone likes Michelle better,” joked Colbert. “Oh, you’ve seen the polls. Don’t tell me you haven’t seen the polling. I know you’ve seen the polling.”

So Obama reveals aliens exist, then goes to a basketball game and suddenly changes his story? Who got to him? Could it be aliens? Because I’m calling it right now, they’re making Space Jam 3.”

Speaking of shutting down conversations…
