To the editor: The Trump administration’s declare that it’s merely reviewing fiscal 12 months 2025 funds is deeply deceptive (“California, different states sue Trump for withholding $6.8 billion in essential training funds,” July 14). In actuality, the administration is withholding $6.8 billion in very important training funding already appropriated by Congress and beforehand scheduled for launch on July 1, 2025.

This delay is inflicting an pressing price range disaster. College districts nationwide, together with in Los Angeles, rely upon these funds for summer time applications and preparations for the autumn. As a substitute, we’re witnessing program closures, layoffs and households scrambling for secure, enriching areas for his or her kids.

As govt director of ExpandLA, which leads a coalition of greater than 500 youth-serving organizations throughout L.A. County, I see the devastating affect firsthand. Mother and father face not possible selections between work and youngster care, inflicting financial ripple results devastating native companies and communities.

The administration should instantly launch these funds. Our kids’s futures are at stake.
