Emmy-winning actor Michael Imperioli, famed for portraying Christopher Moltisanti in the hit HBO series The Sopranos, recently visited the historic Salford Lads Club in Ordsall, Greater Manchester. The 59-year-old New Yorker revealed his admiration for Manchester music legends The Smiths during the trip.
A Fan’s Pilgrimage to a Cultural Landmark
Imperioli, also recognized for roles in Goodfellas and The White Lotus, stepped away from his mobster persona to explore the renowned Salford Lads Club. This community hub plays a key role in guiding local youth toward positive paths and holds deep ties to The Smiths.
The club’s front door gained worldwide fame through an iconic photo of Morrissey and the band, featured on the inner sleeve of their 1986 album The Queen Is Dead.
Live Show Brings Stars to Manchester
Imperioli’s visit coincided with The Talking Sopranos live tour, where he joined co-star Steve Schirripa—known as Bobby Bacala—at Manchester’s O2 Apollo on Saturday. The event formed part of a UK-wide series celebrating the acclaimed crime drama.
Outside the club, Imperioli posed for a photo sporting a Salford Lads Club badge on his jacket. He shared the image on Instagram, captioning it: “Manchester pilgrimage,” alongside a nod to The Smiths.
