Australian snowboarder Scotty James’s sister, Rebecca James, has criticized an Instagram post from The Project’s account following his silver medal win at the Milan-Cortina Winter Olympics.

Silver Medal Heartbreak

Scotty James, 31, secured silver in the men’s halfpipe final on Friday, finishing behind Japan’s Totsuka Yuto, who earned a stunning 95.00 score on his second run. This marks James’s third Olympic medal, making him the first Australian to achieve this feat—bronze in PyeongChang 2018 and silver in Beijing 2022.

After the event, James shared his post-competition plans, stating, “Put a bloody smile on your face, you sook, and go have a beer.”

Controversial Instagram Post Sparks Backlash

Despite The Project being canceled by Channel 10 last year with its final episode airing on June 27, 2025, its Instagram account @theprojecttv—managed by Rove Enterprises—remains active. The page posted a photo of James alongside his quote.

Rebecca James, engaged to Sunrise weatherman Sam Mac, initially mistook the caption for an original comment from the account. She commented, “How dare you!!!! Such a disappointing comment by you.”

Users quickly clarified that the post quoted James directly. Rebecca responded, “That’s unclear and it’s a terrible post either way.”

Other commenters echoed her sentiment, with one stating, “Poor post, give it context. You should know better,” and another adding, “That is disgusting to say such a thing.”
